We call this the “Creative Arts” Department because it covers all other areas of the arts that the other departments don’t cover! In this case, it’s our Art, Steam, Sewing, and Writing Classes. February Vacation Workshops
Join us for an illuminating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) workshop and tinker with light as a design element in 2D and 3D creations. You will learn how to create simple circuits that light up anything from a greeting card to wearables to a toy designed by you! No prior knowledge is required—anyone can learn to make a circuit! Just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm! You’ll leave with something that lights you up with joy. Taught by Danielle Hersey - click here to learn more about our instructors.

Acting Up With Art
In this creative class, younger students will enjoy making an original piece of art using all kinds of materials, and then taking that piece and using it in an short scene. Students will be treated to a basic art class as well as basic acting!
This class is an introduction to color, and painting. Each week we will be focusing on a different color and at the end of the class you will have one painting for each color of the rainbow and a basic understanding of color theory. You will also grow your art vocabulary, with terms like ‘Complementary colors’ ‘Primary and Secondary colors’ and you will leave knowing the difference between a flat paint brush, and a round paint brush. Bring a smock and be prepared to get a little bit messy!
Beginner Hand Sewing
We will focus on running/ gathering stitch, back stitching, blanket stitching as well as sewing on buttons. Each week the children will be building on their skill while making fun and simple crafts with their new talents. The final project will work with cutting and tracing out a pattern to build a Monster. We would love for you to join us in this Monstrous good time!
Beginner Hand Sewing
We will focus on running/gathering stitch, back stitch, blanket stitch as well as hem stitch. We will also work on some basic Embroidery stitches. Each week the students will be building their skills by working on a few different projects. The final weeks we will also work on tracing and cutting out patterns as well as sewing on buttons and patches. The final project will be determined by the class and the instructor together.
Take time to delve into creative writing, using story prompts and other tools to develop your scenic description, author voice, dialogue, and characters as you craft short stories, journaling, poetry and other pieces to build your personal style!
Art Intensive: Drawing
Whether you are just getting started or have created watery works of art, this class is for you. We will get our feet wet with the basics of the watercolor media and swim our way towards trying out new techniques and styles.
Fundamentals of Screenwriting
In this class, students will learn the basics of screenwriting, including concept development, story structure and the mechanics of screenwriting. Taught by a professional screenwriter, students will write their own short screenplay that may even be filmed in a professional studio.
