Tech Department

We are thrilled to be offering several options for students who would rather not be in the spotlight. Our TIP Crew (Tech-in-Progress) encompasses all things backstage: from lighting, special effects, and backstage crew to set design, construction + prop making. We also offer Stagecraft, Light Design, Scenic Design, and more. We are proud to be one of the only theatre companies in New England with these offerings! Scenic Design+Set Building

ages 10-18

Students in these workshops will learn the ins and outs of building the sets and set props for a musical production. These workshops are a good choice for both creative students looking for new ways to use their artistic skills as well as students who are looking for more hands-on set construction experience.

Stagecraft

ages 12-18

The Stagecraft class is part of a series of classes that gives students an overview of all aspects of technical theatre, including lights, sound, costume and set design, as well as props and other backstage work. Completion of all stagecraft classes (which do not need to be taken in order) will prepare students to take the USITT BACKstage Exam which is designed to evaluate the knowledge and work readiness of theatre students at the high school level. The test is optional, but recommended for any students who wish to pursue work in theatre after high school, even those interested in acting. The stagecraft classes, combined with TIP crew, will allow students to earn a CTE (Career and Technical Education) credit.

TIP Crew

ages 10-18

The tech crew is what changes a play into a performance. Come and learn the basics of lighting, sound, and fly system.

These workshops will allow students to experience all aspects of technical theatre. During the performance, students will get to choose which crew they would like to work on, including backstage crew.
