Internships
At illuminate we are passionate about helping students shine by giving them opportunities to grow through internship opportunities.

Internships available in many areas:
Teaching Assistants
Interns assist teachers in all areas, like acting, instruments, dancing and art.

Stage Management
Interns learn all about what goes into stage productions, calling cues, assisting in rehearsals, and backstage.

Costumes
Interns with interest in design, sewing, and fashion can assist with costumes for productions.

Directing
More experienced interns assist in directing junior and middle and high school productions.

Set Design
Experienced builders and painters can intern in set design and building, making shows come to life.

...and so much more
The sky is the limit! Media, administration, coaching, and more. If there are experienced teachers to supervise, students can intern in any area of the arts they can dream of!

Music
Some interns assist in teaching and directing choir, as well as musical directing classes or middle and high school productions.

Props
Creative and organized interns assist in making props and preparing them for stage use.

Internships help develop skills in collaboration, communication, and management as interns inspire the next generation.
Students ages 12-18 are encouraged to apply, and will be notified of their assignments before the semester begins.
Interns are awarded "intern bucks" towards future classes with illuminate.

"The coaches, teachers, staff, and all the kids at illuminate have pushed me in ways that I’m not sure anyone else could have. But they didn’t just push me- they supported me as I tried new things- things I was scared to do and sometimes didn’t think I could do. There is no way that I can explain with words how much illuminate has helped me grow."

"In my years with Illuminate I've been in 4 musicals, 2 summer workshops and 4 plays. I've stage managed, interned, and directed. I've become a captain of Serve Up, our service outreach group. I've grown as a leader, a teacher and a person in my time with illuminate, and i know that i'm not the only one who feels like this, almost everyone that i've seen graduate has come back to teach, or visit or come watch shows"

"Interning at illuminate was an overall great experience because I learned how to be a team player, and how to better teach and communicate with kids. It was also really great to get a backstage view of all that goes into teaching and making a performance happen. After interning, I feel like I've gained some of the skills I need to pursue teaching."
