Our Spring Workshop Session is a shorter 4-week session that's great for just trying us out. We offer classes that we have not offered before to test them out, classes that don't need a longer session, and repeats of some of our most popular classes. Workshops for Ages 4-7
Creative Corner
ages 4-7
In this class, students ages 4-7 will make a different arts and crafts project each week. They will use their imagination and creativity to create and decorate different things, and then to give their creation a name and a story.
Rhyme Time
ages 4-7
In this class, students will learn and sing some famous and some not-so-famous nursery rhymes! We will use toys, books, and simple crafts to help students learn about music, rhythm, characters, and storytelling, with classic nursery rhymes.
Playful Puppetry
ages 4-7
Playful Puppetry: In this fun class, younger students will have the chance to explore basic Puppetry using their own stuffed animals, and eventually sock puppets. Students will learn all about creating a unique character and building a basic performance piece.
Workshops for Ages 8-11
Musical Theatre
ages 8-11
In this class, we will explore some of the foundations of musical theater performance. We will learn about stage directions, projection, and enunciation. We’ll also train in basic improv, song, dance, acting, and character study. The goal of this class is to prepare students to be in the middle school mainstage or similar musical/theatrical performance! We will work on some combination of smaller group scenes, full-ensemble musical numbers, and smaller group songs. The class will culminate in a small performance at the end-of-semester presentation!
Creature Creation
ages 8-11
Students will make animals or a creature they make up out of craft supplies and then make a diorama for the creature to live in. Materials fee will apply.
Folk Music + the Tin Whistle
ages 8-11
In this workshop students will learn the basics of the Irish tin whistle: scales, note names and tunes. No prior music knowledge is needed for success! Each week, children will: 1) Look at a video of a master whistle player 2) Learn/practice the scale and arpeggio in the key of D 3) Play games to become fluent in the note names 4) Sing the song to learn the melody of the tune of the week 5) Do short breath exercises to work on blowing into the whistle 6) Learn the fingering , in small tunes like Hot Cross Buns, Mary had a little lamb, and twinkle twinkle little star. 7) end with a folk song game or dance to practice aspects of basic music theory and musical expression.
Lego Creativity
ages 8-11
Are you a fan of Lego? During this class, there will be lots of Lego fun!!
Students ages 8 -11 will be introduced to architectural and engineering concepts & terminology, all the while experimenting and creating with a wide and varied assortment of Lego. There will be weekly individual and group challenges. This class is not just free play with Lego; nor is it a step by step following of Lego instructions. Join Ms. Lynn on this lovely learning Lego adventure. Let's see what amazing things the students will create.
Stage Combat
ages 8-11
The swords are slicing, kicks connecting, and punches flying. Stage combat, be it realistic and gritty or flat-out outlandish, is on display everywhere. But fear not, brave (or quaking) soul. Even if you’re more Falstaff than Hamlet, you can add stage combat to your repertoire. Here’s everything you need to know about stage combat basics, including safety tips, the differences between stage and screen combat, and how to perform the best phony fights, with insight from fight directors and other experts.
Hand-Sewing Techniques
ages 8-11
This class will be for beginner and intermediate hand sewing. We will focus on running/ gathering stitch, back stitching, blanket stitching as well as sewing on buttons. Each week the children will be building on their skill while making fun and simple crafts with their new talents.
Workshops for Ages 10-18 + 12-18
Paper Bouquets
ages 10-18
Paper flower bouquet making is a process of cutting, gluing, and arranging with other flowers. In this workshop we will go through each step carefully and each student will have the freedom to choose the colors and flowers that are put in their bouquet. Not only will the students be learning a gorgeous form of paper art, but you will also have a beautiful forever bouquet to bring home.
Beginner Crochet
ages 10-18
In this class, students will learn the basics of crochet, and will finish the class with at least one completed project, and the knowledge they need to continue making stuff at home. Each student will receive one (1) crochet hook, and one (1) small ball of yarn to begin with ($5 materials fee will apply), and on the first week will learn the basics to create a small project. They will also get to choose an individual project to work on. Students are responsible for obtaining the supplies needed for their individual project, which they will work on in class.
Beginner Ukulele
ages 10-18
Beginner Ukulele will introduce kids to the basics of playing the Ukulele. Students will learn three simple chords and basic strumming patterns. By the end of the workshop they will be able to play 2-3 songs.
Creative Choreography
ages 12-18
Creating a dance can be fun, freeing, and empowering. In this class we will learn tips and goals to create a dance that is eye-catching and mesmerizing to watch. Students will practice the tips through across the floor, jazz/contemporary combos, and discussions. With their new-found knowledge , they will have the freedom to create their own dance and display their creation to the class.
Paint Party
ages 12-18
Each week, students will use various art techniques to create a masterpiece of their own! A great way to get a crash course in art while having a great time with friends.
Acapella Pop Music
ages 12-18
A Capella is Italian for “in the manner of the chapel” and was originally used in liturgical singing. These days, it has become widespread throughout musical genres and is characterized by unaccompanied voices singing rich and varied harmonies.
In this class we will work on active listening to develop our sensitivity to pitch, harmony and timbre as we work together in an acapella ensemble.
We will explore elements of pop singing including: vocal percussion, mixed belt, breathy singing and mimicking instrumentation to create our own version of a popular song.
Digital Storytelling: Website + Graphic Design
ages 12-18
This class will introduce students to fundamental graphic design and web design skills. Students will be equipped to communicate a clear message and tell an engaging story using these skills.
The 4 week workshop will culminate with a visual project that incorporates all of these skills.
Breaking the Mold: Acting Workshop
ages 12-18
Have you ever completely fallen in love with a character in a show? What about a character that you couldn't or wouldn't typically get to play? In this class, students ages 12 - 18 will spend four weeks learning a monologue from any character hat they want, on or off broadway. They will learn different techniques that will help them to deliver the best possible monologue, as well as do scene work and improvs designed to get them out of their comfort zone.

A History of Music + Film
ages 14-18
This high school class will explore the genre of film scores and the relationship between visual and auditory storytelling. Each week students will focus on a different genre of film, a different composer's scoring, and the relationship between the two.
