About the event

If you’re a seasoned professional or just taking your first steps, a basic acting class is essential for brushing up on skills and developing better instincts on stage. Taught by alumni Blayze Malmberg.

Blayze is a high school graduate and illuminate alumni class of 2023. Blayze was homeschooled for her 3rd-12th grade education and is now pursuing an associates, then masters degree in the Performing Arts. Her love for theater and directing started at an early age, constantly recruiting family members to put on the shows she created! Blayze started with illuminate at age 11, acting in their junior production of Alice in Wonderland. Since then she has been a part (on stage or behind the scenes) of 6 mainstage productions, 2 middle school mainstage productions, 6 junior productions, 3 staged readings, 7 summer workshops, several classes (including; props, set, choirs and various dance classes) and a handful of workshops and master classes. She was a member of Salt+Light for two years, was a captain her senior year and will be their music director this upcoming school year. Blayze interned in various departments at illuminate. She directed two Shakespeare summer workshops, Twelfth Night and Much Ado About Nothing, directed two casts of Charlotte’s Web Jr., assistant directed Stories by Roald Dahl Jr. and assistant directed staged reading of Radium Girls. Blayze also works behind the scenes in the children's community theater for Walnut Hill School for the Arts. She studied one summer at Csehy Summer School of Music. Blayze has been on tour with the Youth Opera of El Paso at the Fairbanks International Summer Arts Festival of Alaska, playing the Cop in Hans Krasa’s Brundibar. Blayze also stage managed, acted, ran the costumes, make up and hair departments for an original production Secret on State Street a Mystery Dinner Theatre at Lamplighter Ministries. Blayze has received private voice and violin instruction over the years. Some of Blayze’s favorite acting roles include; Alexander Hamilton in Revolution, the White Witch in The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, Finch and featured dancer in Newsies,  Olive in The Odd Couple, Joyce Heth in Greatest Showman and the Cop in Brundibar.  Blayze is happily immersed in all areas of the arts and is delighted to help give back to the illuminate community.
